The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Metrolink operate bus lines, subway and light rail lines throughout the county. The Port of Los Angeles, also called Los Angeles Harbor and Worldport LA, covers 7,500 acres in San Pedro Bay. Los Angeles International Airport is the sixth busiest commercial airport in the world, and Van Nuys Airport is one of the world’s busiest general aviation airports.

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) enrolls more than 640,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade at more than 900 schools and 187 public charter schools. Los Angeles is home to three public universities, more than a dozen private colleges and a community college system with nine campuses.
